Commemoration Event for Major Eric Dougall VC MC

On Saturday 14th April Major Eric Stuart Dougall VC MC will be honoured when a paving stone in his memory is unveiled at the War Memorial in Royal Tunbridge Wells, the town where he was born and grew up.

You are invited to come along at 2.30pm and watch this short ceremony which will be performed by the Lord Lieutenant of Kent, Viscount Philip De L'Isle MBE.

Major Dougall died on 14th April 1918 just four days after winning the VC 'For most conspicious bravery in the field when in command of his battery'. He is buried in a cemetery just outside Westoutre, near Ypres. The paving stone honours his bravery and provides a lasting legacy within the local community.
